Four Years From Now

Entering college, my parents told me, "College is your job. You're there to go to school and make your grades so one day you can be successful.” I thought college was all about partying, having fun, and being who I want to be. Yes, college does include the parties and all the fun, but the most important thing it offers is education. People go to college to become prepared to be specialized in certain fields. They are taught every little detail to what they may come across in later years. At the moment, I am a business management major with a minor in finance. In four years from now, I would like to know that I am capable of doing the work to the best of my ability and one day owning my own.
The years while in college with are the most important years of a person’s life. It will make or break your life in the long run. People need to realize what they can do and what they cannot do. In my case, I could never be a doctor because I am not smart enough to do so. But at the same time, I know I am smart enough to not be a worker at Burger King or McDonalds. This is where college classes come in handy. The teachers will teach you to the best of their ability just so you can have a better life after college.
I expect to have learned the ins and outs of being involved in a business. Trying to help with whatever I can for the good of the business. I expect to have learned how to work with others and not just take over and have one word that rules over all. I want to have learned communication skills with every person I end up doing business with. I expect to know what to do when a mistake or error comes up and I have to fix it. I also expect how to manage my own business one day and run it myself. I want to be my own boss. I want people to want to do business with me because of the good work I will do. I also want my family and others to look up to me as a hard working man.
All of these things are possible if you go to school and learn while you are there. Just like Boston Celtics player Kevin Garnett said, “Anything is Possible.” This is something I live by day to day. Deep inside I know I can own my own business, but right now it seems impossible. That’s why I am here at Georgia Southern, to make good grades and one day own my own business.

Arguing? Why do it?

It is hard to avoid an argument throughout the day. Personally, I come across several arguments every day. These arguments could either be over stupid things such as: food, TV channel, who has shotgun, who is right over who is wrong, etc., or could be over larger things like divorces, in court, or money. Yes nobody is perfect and does not argue with someone. But I keep asking myself, Why do people argue? In their minds, an individual believe that he or she is always right. People always want what they want no matter what others think or what's good got the situation at the time. I am guilty of this as well. The only way in my eyes to limit arguing is to avoid arguments at all times. If there were no arguments then everything would be that much better. Personally I am not a mean guy. Yes I cut up a lot but at the same time I mean no harm. I try to avoid arguments everyday just to make my day that much better and not have to worry about stupid things arguments occur from.

If you could go to one place in the world, where would you go?

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Some might say Bahamas, Europe, or even Australia. There are so many interesting places in the world that I want to travel too and see. Some many that it is hard to figure out where I would want to go. Something tells me to go to Greece, but that doesn't really appeal to me. It would be a great place but that's not the number one place I would like to visit. Something tells me to go to China, but once again that's not the number one place I would like to visit. The number one place I would like to go visit would be Ireland.

Ireland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. The lay of the land is extravagant. The land is mostly level with rolling hills. You look over the rolling plains and all you see is green. Ireland has a rich history which goes back over a couple thousands of years. Ireland also has a great genre of music. There are great sights to see all over Ireland. I also have a ton of family in Ireland. They are wonderful people and I could see myself over there right now having a great time with them.

Home Evaluation

Even though I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, home to me is Macon, Georgia. Out of my eighteen years of life, twelve of them have been spent in Macon. Cruising down Wesleyan Woods Drive, the second house on the left lies something special to me, home. I live in a somewhat big house, even though it looks smaller from the outside. One unique thing that separates it from all the other houses is the driveway. It is the only black asphalt driveway on the street. It makes it easy to tell people to look for the black driveway and then you’re here. My house is a one story house with five bedrooms and four baths. It has a swimming pool, hot tub, and a back patio. But there is one place in my home that makes it home to me, my bedroom. Down the hall, second door on the left, is my kingdom. I have a king size bed with the most comfortable mattress in the world. There is not one thing of light coming into my room. It stays so dark in there that someone could sleep for days without knowing the time of day.

Another thing that makes Macon home to me is that my entire family lives in Macon. Three doors down is my Cousin’s house. On the other side of the street is my Grandmother’s house. Five minutes away is my Dad’s house. I even count my close friends as family, and they too all live right near me.

Every time you get with a group of people, stories tend to lead to childhood times. Childhood memories are the best to talk about because it brings back old thoughts and laughter. Childhood memories remind me of all my times in Macon. There is never a time in Macon where you cannot find someone who will give you comfort when you need it. That’s what makes Macon home to me.

Shawshank Redemption

New movies are released and make a hit. Some movies don't make an impact at all. Each movie has its ups and downs, but every movie is unique in its own way. But there are movies that are remembered forever as classics. Last Tuesday, I sat in my room and watched one of the best movies ever created. Shawshank Redemption is rated number one on imbd.com Top 250. As you watch the movie, you begin to develop sympathy towards Tim Robbins, who plays the role of Andy Dufresne. In the movie, Andy gets charged with murder without even committing a crime. What I really liked in the movie was that he took his jail time and was going to get revenge on the system. Not by murdering anyone, but buy tunneling out of jail.

There are way more strengths in the movie than there are weakness. One of the best strengths of the movie is the friendships that are made. Andy would have never of made it through if it wasn't for Red, played by Morgan Freeman. Red and Andy became best friends during the movie and both get out of jail with the help of others. But there are some weaknesses. One is that the characters never increase in age even though time has passed. That really gets on my nerves when this happens in movies.

Overll, I believe that Shawshank Redemption is the best movies out there. Everyone atleast needs to see this movie once. But i gaurentee you that if you watch it, you will watch it more than once.
